I am a fully qualified psychotherapist with a Diploma in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling from Regent's College, London, 1999. I practice Psychotherapy and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and short–term, solution focused therapy. I have received specialist training in Addiction Counselling and Working with Young People (OCS Diploma, 2007). I am a Licensed Practitioner of NLP and studied with Richard Bandler (co-founder of The Society of Neuro–Linguistic Programming) and Paul McKenna. I am committed to on–going continued professional development and, as a requirement of all BACP accredited therapists, I undertake on–going professional supervision on a twice monthly basis.
I have been working in private practice (CBT, Psychotherapy and Counselling) in Brighton and Hove for the past 5 years. I also run a clinic in Lewes. I have worked in the voluntary sector as a counsellor for over 10 years, primarily for MIND and SASS (Sussex Alcohol and Substance Misuse).
How I Work:
The fundamental principals of Existential Psychotherapy underlie the way I work, I have a non–judgemental approach and respect for individuals and differences. I focus on the relationship before anything else. Research supports the importance of the connection between the client and therapist and the relationship that forms. I believe therapy should be about providing a supportive and compassionate environment, where truths can be discovered and challenges confronted. My intention is to be as fully present in the session as possible and to provide supportive listening and insightful reflections. We may discover that you want to change or develop and find newfound ways of being.
Your first session will cost only £25 and will be an opportunity for us to discuss your needs.
